Motivated by its vocation as a major fish exporter and listening to market requirements, Morocco has a modern upgrading infrastructure and has implemented a policy of development of the sector whose key word is 'quality competitiveness'.

The canning industry in Morocco is the result of a long evolution and accumulation of know-how. It currently includes about thirty active processing units, offering an annual processing capacity of 300,000 tons of raw material and employing 21,000 permanent and seasonal employees.

The Semi-Canning Industry

The semiservice industry focuses on the salting and processing of anchovies and the marinades of fishery products. This industry includes about twenty production units (filleting and packaging) and about ten salting units. It offers 6,000 direct jobs including 1,000 permanent and 5,000 seasonal.

Earth Freezing Industry

The freezing activity of seafood occupies an important place among conservation and processing activities in our industry. Most freezer units are centered in the southern part of the country due to the development of cephalopod fisheries and pelagic fisheries.

It offers around 6,000 jobs.
